The Mysterious Bug
I’ve had a mysterious problem with my computer for years now. For some unknown reason, it would freeze up at random. It happened mostly while Windows was starting up, but occasionally it would just freeze at some point for no apparent reason. Today, for example, I woke up and sat down to my computer only to find that I could not click on anything. The clock said 2:00 AM, which means that’s the time that it just froze.
I’ve never, ever been able to solve this issue, and trust me, I’ve looked high and low. I noticed the problem went away when I installed Windows 7, but I began to dislike 7 so much that I went back to XP, even though I know I was most likely going to have that problem again.
At first, everything was fine… for several weeks… but lately, it’s begun to happen again. This morning I couldn’t get it to load completely until after letting it finish a CHKDSK scan. This leads me to believe that there may be an issue with the HDD, at least to some extent. Though, I’ve tested this theory before (or so I thought…). I replaced one of the two old HDDs that I have been using for several years. Perhaps I should replace the other one as well. Come to think of it, that would probably most wise because it is the drive I store my most valuable data on.
Well, I’d better get ready for work.
