…and then some

Yard work

I think i will clean up more of the front yard today. It is hot out but there is a strong breeze. We don’t really have a lawn. We just have weeds. My goal is to get rid of weeds so it’s just dirt.

  1. Do you plan to put in a lawn? Or is that too expensive a project right now. The pictures make it look like you have a really huge yard, and I really don’t know that much about growing anything, but it also looks like that ground needs to be worked alot in order to grow anything on/in it.

  2. We’re have about a third of an acre. The front yard is small but the back yard is huge. The front yard is what I’m working on right now. We want to make it look at least somewhat decent because that’s what everybody sees. Right now it’s nothing but weeds… literally… dead weeds at that. I’m working on knocking out as many of the weeds as I can and raking everything up so that at least it’s just dirt (which looks far better than the weeds).

  3. btw, I just watched “warehouse 13” for the first time..and I’m watching “Haven” right now…Jury is still out on both of them…also, so far I still like “Fringe” better. I was anxiously waiting for “The Event” to start in September, and just saw another commercial for it…it looks more political than I like…in fact, I don’t like any politically based program…I know this is off topic (we were talking about your yard), but I saw on facebook you mentioned something about “warehouse 13” and thought I give it a looksee. I’ve been getting awfully bored lately with tv and would like to see something that interests me.So far that has only been Fringe.

  4. oh…I wanted to tell you. When I was young (in my teens), I was sent to live with a foster family. They had a house in Chico, CA and the dirt and yard looked like it appears yours looks like…my foster mom had a gardening book which had the directions for making dirt viable for gardening or growing a lawn. It was to simply take certain leftovers from breakfast, lunch and dinner…throw it out on the dirt, bury it,and turn the dirt a little each day. It makes kind of a compost. You can look it up on the computer. My foster mom did it, and she had the most beautiful lawn and in the back she grew the best fruits and veggies ever…btw, how are the peppers doing?

  5. The dirt here is way too hard for that to be efficient.
