OH, the Humidity!
Today’s been a pretty busy day. Uhh… honestly don’t remember how it really started, but I do remember Lisa and I setting up our “new” bed frame in our bed room. We got the box frames (two twins, doubling for the california king mattress on top) and mattress on there, but then we decided to head over to my folk’s place to pick up a much more comfortable pillowtop mattress they said we could have. Oh, and waffles. My mom makes great waffles.
We weren’t just taking the mattress, though. We were swapping ours with theirs. The logical thing would be to load up ours into the truck and take it over right away, but I was much too hungry and weak to mess with it then, so we skipped that step and just headed over for breakfast. We spent some time over there and, omitting all the other boring details, we came back home.
We got home, unloaded the new mattress and flopped it onto our bed. With the new frame and additionally the thicker pillowtop mattress, I almost feel I need a step ladder just to get up onto the bed. I don’t know how much more comfortable it’ll be, but it’s certainly a longer fall if I roll off. Awesome.
Long story cut shorter, we took the other mattress back over, deposited a check, got some food, came home and watched people die on TV, and now here I am typing a blog.
Oh, and the humidity and heat didn’t make any of this easier. Any of it. Nope.
Here’s an amusing treat. We took Ramsey street on the way home, and for those of you familiar with the area, you’ll know of the liquor store on the 22nd/Ramsey intersection, northeast corner. Well as we approached the intersection, I saw a cop car pull through traffic right up to that corner. I then noticed two cop cars already there, one with a cop standing by his door, gun drawn. As I got closer, another cop got out of his car with what appeared to be a fully automatic rifle of some kind. Not being a gun expert, and not getting a good look, I couldn’t tell you exactly what kind of gun it was. Just as the light turned green I noticed a fourth car behind me so I drove off without delay so as to let him through. I’m not sure what was going on, but they had their sights on a small car parked in front of the liquor store with at least two people in it, who had their hands sticking out of the windows, which were down just enough to let their hands out to show they were not armed. I really wish I knew what was going on… but we had to keep driving and going back to look just didn’t seem like the thing to do. If you know anything about this little fiasco, please do share.
Well, I’m out.
