A quick summary about phone updates

So earlier today I decided to update my phone to a more recent Android version. I wasn’t sure if it would work and I did have some problems along the way however, I did manage to end up with a working updated phone. Unfortunately, I did lose most of my data, and after all is said and done I probably didn’t really need to. One major benefit to the new update is that the voice to text features seem to be much much better. So far I’ve been able to speak this entire blog post without making any corrections. I haven’t even have to type the punctuation. I am rather impressed. Even though I did lose a lot of my data and I’m really disappointed about that it’s clear to me that there are some benefits to the update as well.

I’m not really going to go into all the details of what I went through. I mostly just wanted to test the voice to text stuff. I think it is working wonderfully. I only had to make one minor correction this entire time. I wonder if anybody can guess what the correction was…

just some updates (voice to text)

disclaimer: I’m using voice to text to write this blog and will not be making corrections. results may be… peculiar.

its been a long time since I had an injury to my wordpress blog. I guess it’s just so easy to post something on Facebook I don’t really think about WordPress. anyway…  my family is going on a really nice vacation starting early tomorrow morning. we’re going on a cruise of the East Coast. I don’t get to go though… Lisa and I have to stay home. in fact we have to take care of the cats while they’re away. oh well. we’re planning on going on a cruise or something next year… for our 5 year anniversary.

Dodgers doing a lot better. in fact based on his behavior alone you would never even know he got hurt. he’s recovering very well and running around like a normal dog. the fence David help me put up is pretty much complete. although we do need to have a gate put in so that I can still get into the back when I need to.

I really thought that this blog would have more errors in it does. sometimes the speech to text works really well and sometimes the results are embarrassing. so far the only been a few mistakes this time around. you can probably figure out where they are.

a while back we got this game called munchkin. its your turn based game… that is… its a card based games that uses silly RPG elements. the rules are kind of hard to grasp because certain things just aren’t explain very well even though the rule sheet is pretty big. however once you get the hang of it it’s a lot of fun. there are also out on card packs that you can get to add more monsters and items and things to the game. I think it would be really cool to get some of those card packs.

I’ve been really getting into an anime lately called fairytale. well that’s not how you spell it but whatever. when I first started watching it I thought it was just ok… because I started to watch it more I thought it was pretty good… by now I’ve decided it’s probably one of the best animes ever seen. not really sure how to describe it. its not a really serious anime the story isn’t as raw or as deep as some of the other animes I have seen… but just as a really exciting vibe to it. in the lot of the underlying messages really encouraging the optimistic. there a lot of parts it really took it to heart strings too.

I got my mister no back.  well that last sentence was awful… but I said no corrections so…nevermind.

I don’t really like that the voice to text makes nevermind one word when should be two words. sorry…

well a lot of what I said didn’t really come out the way I wanted. but whatever. I guess I’ll just publish this blog and then go back to watching more fairy tale… I so close by making a bunch of noises and seeing how is getting complicated to text…

I was there was no but I don’t want to meet up with them a lot a DD DD wouldn’t bother you but I need to do the weather in Miami.

Can’t do it

I had some confidence and motivation this morning. I sat down determined to build my resume today. Now that I’ve worked part way through it I realize what a farce it all was. I have no confidence. I know I can do things but I have no idea how to communicate that on a resume. I can’t even think of the words to describe my work experience. Seriously. I get ready to type and my brain just crashes. I cannot do this. I’m so depressed and disappointed in myself I’m on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Summary of Major Updates

I wonder how many blogs posts I have that open with me referencing the fact that I’ve not posted in a while.  Probably a lot.

So as the title indicates, I’m going to summarize some of the major things that have happened in my life lately, as well as some minor things.  You discern which is which.

My parents and sister recently moved.  Same town, different home.  Better home.  Much better.   It all happened so fast, though.  Being the sentimental goof that I am, it’s a bit sad knowing that the home I grew up in and have always called “home” is no longer home and I’m no longer welcome there as I always have been.  Home is at another location now.  Still welcome, but not the same.

Work has been incredibly slow.  Lack of work means lack of income.  Of course that means to bills going unpaid and all of the financial woes that go along with that.  Stress, frustration, depression… it’s the grab bag of emotional crap and each day I reach in blindly and see what pathetic state I’ll find myself in next.

I normally stream on Twitch.tv almost daily, however this hasn’t been happening mostly due to the stuff mentioned in the previous paragraph.  I’ll get back into it.  It’s just hard to want to entertain others when I’m so bummed out.

That’s all for now.

Benadryl. Either it doesn’t work or it works too much.

So, lately I have been getting to bed way too late and sleeping until noon or later.  Unfortunately, this is a problem because in order for me to get enough work done for the day I should really start closer to 10am.  However, I’ve been having a hard time adjusting my sleep schedule because I’m just not getting sleepy early enough.

The night before last I decided to try some Benadryl.  I just took one.  I never really felt it “kick in”, but I went to bed and eventually fell asleep.  I woke up several times, had trouble getting back to sleep each of those times, and overall it didn’t really seem to help much.  I did get to bed a little earlier than usual, but I don’t think it had anything to do with the Benadryl.  I just chose to go to bed early.  The Benadryl was supposed to make the sleeping easier, which it didn’t seem to.  It wasn’t a very restful sleep.

Last night I decided to go with 2 Benadryl tablets.  This time I could feel it start to “kick in” shortly afterward, and I went to bed, where I fell asleep and had a very restful sleep.  I don’t think I woke up at all until morning when Lisa was getting ready for work, and even then I passed out again right away.  A couple hours later I woke up.  I looked at the clock and realized that I had enough sleep so I got up and walked around… but after a few minutes I realized I wasn’t ready.  I couldn’t function.  I had to get back in bed… so I did.  By the time I actually got up to stay I had slept for about 12 hours.  THAT’S TOO MUCH!  Not normally a big deal but in this case the whole purpose of making myself sleep earlier was so that I could get up at a decent time.  It doesn’t help for me to go to bed 2 hours earlier if I’m going to just sleep 4 hours more!   …or whatever.  That was just an example.

Anyway… that’s that.   I don’t think I can get in the number of hours of work today that I should have been able to.   Yeah I know I’m typing a blog when I should be working, but this really doesn’t take long.

Speaking of typing blogs, I need to try to get into the habit of posting blogs when I have stories to share rather than posting them as Facebook news posts.

Free Writing (15m) – Clouds

So today I get to write about clouds, although I’m not really sure what to say on this topic.  It’s a rather broad yet strangely concise subject.  Clouds… clouds… hmmmm… well I know there are many types of clouds, although I don’t really remember what they are.  I think there are cirrus clouds… and… uhm… other ‘c’ words.  Well, I am no meteorologist.  What do you expect.  I know clouds can take all kinds of shapes and sizes and densities.  I’ve seen many beautiful clouds in my time, and have photographed many as well.  I have seen beautiful displays of sunlight pouring out from behind thick clouds.  Clouds are like the God’s fingerpaints on his sky canvas.  It’s kinda neat to think of them that way.

I really love clouds.  My favorite kinds of days are cloudy days.  Many people wake up in the morning, pull away the shades, and hope are given joy by sunshine.  For me, the best kinds of days are the ones where I pull back the shades and everything is gray and grim.  To some people, too many clouds are depressing, but to me, they are wonderful.  I’m not sure what it is about clouds that makes me happy.  Maybe it’s the fact that my eyes tend to be a bit sensitive to bright light and the clouds ease that.  Or maybe I just like the fact that they provide some coolness in a typically hot climate.  Whatever it is, I like clouds.

Clouds aren’t always helpful, though.  Sometimes clouds can be an inconvenience.  For example, most photography shots are not so great when there is an overcast of clouds… or sometimes there are just times when you just need sunlight.  I’m not sure when that is, but hey… I’m being open here.  I happen love overcast days.

Clouds don’t always keep it cool, though.  I’ve experienced some pretty grueling heat on very cloudy days… and usually those kinds of days include a lot of humidity as well.

I’ll be honest.  I’m running out of things to say about clouds.  I’m starting to hit writer’s block on this topic, but I must keep going!  Clouds… clouds…

Hey, nobody said what kinds of clouds I could talk about.  How about digital storage clouds?  Those are becoming quite popular these days.  I know Xbox Live recently introduced cloud storage.  That’s a really nice feature because that means that your save data can be accessible anywhere an xbox can connect to the internet.  Steam uses a storage cloud for the same purpose.  I personally don’t use any of the storage clouds.  All of my data is saved locally.

Let’s go back to the topic of sky clouds.  I like thunder clouds. I don’t know if that’s really a thing, but I suppose we typically refer to the “heavier”, darker, denser clouds as being ‘thunder’ clouds… or maybe I’mthinking of something else entirely.  I’m really not sure.

I suppose one can say that the whole topic is a bit… cloudy… to me.

Cloud Strife is one of the most popular Final Fantasy characters of all time.

I think there’s a Fox McCloud or Fox Cloud or something, too… who is a video game character, or maybe a movie character…?  I don’t recall.  It sounds familiar.  I’d have to look it up, and I don’t think I can do that right now.

Clouds… clouds…  My wife and I noticed two dark clouds in the sky today.  It would be nice if there were more clouds.  As I said before, I love cloudy days.  The northern west coast states are particularly cloudy. Excessive cloudy weather can cause a lot of people to become depressed, which I believe is why Washington state has such a high suicide rate.  It’s all the clouds.  Clouds are the opposite of depressing for me, and I know I keep saying it over and over, but I like clouds.

There are some clouds I don’t like.  For example, clouds that aren’t near me.  Those clouds suck.  Clouds I can’t see are also bad.  Fifteen minutes to write about clouds is probably a bit excessive.

There are a lot of cartoons that portray characters walking and standing on clouds.  Such silliness.  That is not possible!  Clouds could never support that.

Kid Icarus is one of my favorite NES games, and it has lots of clouds in it.

Playing Games

Today I got my Xbox 360 controller wireless receiver for PC.  Now I can use any wireless Xbox 360 controller with my PC.  This is great.  The controller I’ve been using is absolute garbage.

I’ve been playing some more Sonic Generations with a good controller now, and it really is more fun.  Plus the game started saving my data, which is great, too.  I’ve started to record some of my gameplay, and I’ve been considering starting a dedicated YouTube channel to upload those videos.  I’m not sure if I will.  Do you think I should?

Here’s one of my first videos:

I saw a video online of someone getting a score of 1220.2 or something like that.  I haven’t seen anybody do any better than my 1220.7 so if you can find a video of someone doing better (without any cheating), then I’d love to see it.

A Beautiful Day For a Neighbor?

No.  I’m not awake because I want to be.  I’m awake because one of the neighbor dogs got into our yard again and the one that stayed on the other side proceeded to yap and yap at the one that came over.  While I watched through the window, I did see the dog return to his own yard under the fence, but I am NOT going out into the rain to block the gap again.  It’s not my responsibility.  My neighbors have always been very nice, but I’m very sick and tired of living next to them.  Between the cigarette smoke, the dogs, and a few other things, I feel like I have no sanctuary.
