Does anyone care??

Haha, no, I’m not whining about getting attention this time.  I’m listening to the Cranberries and the last lines she sang as I started this blog were “Does anyone ca-aa-aarre?”

I’m really liking my new banner.  I can’t tell you how much time I’ve spent fiddling with different ideas and designs, trying to come up with something clever or catchy that also says something about me or my personality.  Really.  I can’t tell you.  I have no idea.  I just know it was a long time.  I thought a picture of my face would be a nice touch… so I played with several ideas using pictures… but finally I decided that the title “Life” and the words “and then some” just really didn’t need to be there… so I took them out, and I think it was the best choice.  Of course, then I was just left with a picture of my face and nothing else… so I wanted to put some random things in there that had something to do with me or my life.  I first thought of pieces of photos, but that thought left in a hurry.  Words.  Had to be words.  Long story short… I used words.

It’s really humid again today… well, it’s rainy… so obviously it’s gonna be humid.  It’s not a cool rain, though.  Most of the morning it was nice and cool, but now it’s quite warm.  Y’know that feeling after you take a nice hot shower in an unventilated room, and all the steam makes it nearly impossible to dry off… not to mention the heat causing you to sweat, which just adds to the moisture…   well, it kinda feels like that, except that I’m dressed, and not in an unventilated room… and I didn’t just take a shower… and I’m not you.

I actually had a shower like that when we were up at June Lake during my camping trip.

OH, the Humidity!

Today’s been a pretty busy day.  Uhh… honestly don’t remember how it really started, but I do remember Lisa and I setting up our “new” bed frame in our bed room.  We got the box frames (two twins, doubling for the california king mattress on top) and mattress on there, but then we decided to head over to my folk’s place to pick up a much more comfortable pillowtop mattress they said we could have.  Oh, and waffles.  My mom makes great waffles.

We weren’t just taking the mattress, though.  We were swapping ours with theirs.  The logical thing would be to load up ours into the truck and take it over right away, but I was much too hungry and weak to mess with it then, so we skipped that step and just headed over for breakfast.  We spent some time over there and, omitting all the other boring details, we came back home.

We got home, unloaded the new mattress and flopped it onto our bed.  With the new frame and additionally the thicker pillowtop mattress, I almost feel I need a step ladder just to get up onto the bed.  I don’t know how much more comfortable it’ll be, but it’s certainly a longer fall if I roll off.  Awesome.

Long story cut shorter, we took the other mattress back over, deposited a check, got some food, came home and watched people die on TV, and now here I am typing a blog.

Oh, and the humidity and heat didn’t make any of this easier.  Any of it.  Nope.

Here’s an amusing treat.  We took Ramsey street on the way home, and for those of you familiar with the area, you’ll know of the liquor store on the 22nd/Ramsey intersection, northeast corner.  Well as we approached the intersection, I saw a cop car pull through traffic right up to that corner.  I then noticed two cop cars already there, one with a cop standing by his door, gun drawn.  As I got closer, another cop got out of his car with what appeared to be a fully automatic rifle of some kind.  Not being a gun expert, and not getting a good look, I couldn’t tell you exactly what kind of gun it was.  Just as the light turned green I noticed a fourth car behind me so I drove off without delay so as to let him through.  I’m not sure what was going on, but they had their sights on a small car parked in front of the liquor store with at least two people in it, who had their hands sticking out of the windows, which were down just enough to let their hands out to show they were not armed.  I really wish I knew what was going on… but we had to keep driving and going back to look just didn’t seem like the thing to do.  If you know anything about this little fiasco, please do share.

Well, I’m out.

Black Mamba

hs_black_mambaLast week I finally got my hands on a bottle of BLACK MAMBA hot sauce.  It’s only a 2 ounce bottle but it really packs a punch.  I had a sandwich that day and I put a little bit on the sandwich but it didn’t seem quite as hot as I expected.  Maybe I didn’t shake it up enough, or maybe something in the sandwich really cut the heat.  I’m not sure.  I tried it again a couple of nights later.  Melted some butter in a bowl and put a few drops of this in.  I like to roll up warm flour tortillas and dip them.  It seemed a lot hotter that time.  Anyway, it has a pretty decent flavor, though I haven’t really gotten around to really putting it to the test.  I gotta put a drop or two directly on my tongue to really get a feel for it.  I haven’t done that yet.  Maybe I’ll do that tonight.  Also, for the record, I tried looking up the Scoville rating for this sauce, but the makers never really had it officially rated.  Based on what I’ve read and heard from others, this sauce could be anywhere between 1,000,000-4,000,000 scovies.  In case you don’t know anything about scoville units, and don’t know how hot a million scovies is, bear in mind that a Red Savina (hotter than the common orange ones) habanero pepper is probably around 500,000.
